Some phrases can rub your manager the wrong way. Even if what you say is true, it could backfire, so make sure
to avoid saying any of the following:
.
Discussing your coworkers’ salaries:
Discussing salaries and comparing yours with your coworkers’ is frustrating and angers your manager, who thinks they see what you don’t and have abilities you don’t.
Taking individual differences among employees into account, you can discuss your salary with your manager, but avoid comparing yourself with others or
bringing it up repeatedly in an annoying way.
.
Threatening to quit:
Threatening to quit over a particular situation and exploiting your knowledge of how much the company currently needs your work may get you a good result initially,
but it will anger your manager, who will immediately start looking for your replacement. Once they find one, you may find yourself out of a job.
.
There isn’t enough time to get the work done:
It’s natural to use this phrase during the early stages of a task, or while preparing for it, to set expectations properly and avoid problems
later on. But saying it to your manager at the deadline, or waiting until just a few days before the work is due, will make them angry.
.
Things the company should do differently:
When you compare the company with its competitors to show that management’s vision is limited, and that a different approach would have produced better results,
don’t expect your manager to respond with anything but anger, since you have directly accused them of falling short.
.
أمورك الشخصية:
Telling your manager about your personal matters to fish for excuses will make you a nuisance at work. They don’t see it as their responsibility to understand the details of your life
or make allowances for your endless personal circumstances.
.
I didn’t know I needed to tell you:
When you decide on your own that what happened doesn’t necessarily need to be brought to your manager’s attention, then, when asked about it, say that you didn’t think it was important for them to know,
And because you didn’t mean to upset them, expect an angry reaction.
.
I didn’t know that was a trade secret:
You may have revealed confidential information that you were not allowed to share with others, causing a problem at work. Apologize without mentioning this as an excuse, which will make
مديرك غاضبا.
.
Joking around at serious times:
your manager furious. They believe the matter being discussed requires seriousness and attention, while you’re using a sarcastic tone when
dealing with them. Although you may mean well and be trying to ease the tension, your manager will see you as careless.
.
لست المسؤول:
When they ask you to do a specific task or ask about an unsatisfactory result, and you reply that it isn’t your responsibility, you may sometimes be right—but they’ll be upset with you,
لأنه لو لم يراك كذلك لما تقدم بسؤالك دون غيرك, أو الطلب منك ذلك.
