5. Create a High-Quality Profile
Since I’m a strong advocate for building a robust online presence to support starting a
مستقل، فقد أحضرت خبيرًا وهو Laurence Bradford لمشاركة جميع العناصر الأساسية
for building your freelance business profile—the kind that will attract high-value clients.
As a starting point, let’s understand the purpose of having a website where you can showcase your profile.
First and foremost, this is often a potential client’s first impression of you and your
style, your work, and the clients (or companies) you’ve worked with as a freelancer.
You need to effectively communicate the services you offer to these people. In addition,
ذلك عليك أن تروج لنفسك عن سبب كونك أفضل شخص لهذا النوع من العمل – للعملاء
you want to work with.
For your profile to be truly effective at selling your services, it needs to include the following
-Connect your area of expertise to examples of your work.
-List your contact information and let your personality shine.
-Highlight relevant skills, education, and achievements.
-Showcase testimonials (even from colleagues or former managers when you’re just starting out).
-Share regular updates that show your growth, new clients, and an updated business model.
As you develop your profile, look up other freelancers and get some
Get inspired by them to discover how they present themselves through their profiles
and craft their service offerings as they start building their businesses.
6. Create examples of what you can deliver
(on your portfolio website)
You want your website to serve as a place where you can demonstrate your expertise. With that in mind,
one of the best ways to show that you know your freelance business inside and out is by publishing
new content, images, or videos regularly (depending on the content medium you work in
so that it appeals to your target customers.
Once you understand what your customers need, get started and create examples of that specific type of content, as
if you had been hired to produce it for your own website.
There’s no better way to sell your services than to show customers that you can create what
they need. What’s more, it will make their projects much easier when you have a library
of relevant work to draw inspiration from.
My website is a real-world example of this. When I set out to start freelancing, I decided
early on to publish on my site at least once a month. I would publish a
highly comprehensive blog post of more than 4,000 words on topics that teach readers
how to start and grow a profitable side business.
tIf you're a web designer, your website should be exceptionally well organized, since
everything about it represents what you'll be able to build for your clients. But if you're a writer like me
So your blog should showcase the quality of work you’ll create for everyone you work with. The same
goes for designers, so make sure the images on your website reflect the style
you want to create for your future clients.

7. Choose Your First Clients Carefully
Since you have very limited time to find new clients when you’re starting your
freelance business, you need to make the most of the clients you get at first,
from a financial perspective.
Your early customers’ opinions will shape how other prospective customers see you in the future,
which makes everyone you choose to feature as a client on your website
قرارًا حاسمًا – خاصة في البداية.
Of course, you don’t want to overthink things and become paralyzed by indecision, but taking a minute or
two to consider whether each prospective client is a good fit for you will help you
Reach the goal you want to achieve.
I usually take on only two freelance clients at a time, not because
there’s a shortage of incoming work requests, but because I’ve chosen to dedicate a limited amount of my working time
to the two clients who are the best fit for the future clients I want to work with.

8. List potential clients in your profile
Searching online for the best remote jobs won’t get you immediate results.
Always. And it can be difficult to make a name for yourself at first, especially if nobody knows you exist.
That’s why, in every piece of content I create for my blog, I regularly mention
the brands, companies, and people I think I might work with someday. Even if I’m not
quite ready to take on new clients, or qualified to pursue deals of that scale
yet, it’s never too early to start building goodwill and putting myself in front of
the right clients and the companies I’m targeting.
Look at the content you’re planning to create for your personal website over the next few weeks,
and keep a list of companies you’d like to feature whenever possible. Then, once you
publish something, take a few minutes to reach out and let them know.
I can’t stress enough how important this step was in helping me start a freelance business
and grow my personal brand very quickly. Almost every time I do this,
the person I emailed replies very quickly to thank me and usually shares it through
Its company's social media channels.
So you can get in touch with the companies and brands you’d like to work with
-Find the best way to contact this brand.
-Tailor the subject line to the recipient.
-Keep your question brief.
-Show your strength and confidence in the message.
Here’s the email template I use to alert potential customers when I publish something
that mentions them and that they’re presumably already part of my target audience.
“مرحبًا “الاسم الأول”
I’ve been using (and loving) [Company / Product] for many years and always recommend it to others for
[Relevant Use Case].
I wanted to give you a heads-up that I featured [Company / Product] as a resource in my post about 100 tools
Essential for starting an online business, and the post is already gaining traction.
Would you mind taking a look at the post when you have a chance to make sure I’m giving a
great description of the benefits of [company / product]? I’d be happy to make a few quick edits before I put together
نسخة من المشاركة على Inc.com.”
You’ll notice that I’m asking them to take action in my email. This action is in
their best interest, since I just want them to confirm whether I’m describing them in the best possible way.
Almost everyone I emailed replied with praise or a request for revisions.
More importantly, I’ve now established a connection with them based on the quality of the work I’ve already
delivered. The relationship is there now, which helps you sharpen your sales skills.
Whether I eventually start freelancing with them, get a remote job offer, or
حتى إذا لم يأتِ شيء على الإطلاق من العلاقة الجديدة – ما زلت أحصل على علاقات جديدة
through my work that will help me in the near future.

Features You’ll Find Only in Freelancing and for Freelancers
9. Learn how to market yourself
If you want to start freelancing, you need to know how to market yourself.
No matter how skilled you are in your profession, if you want to turn your skills into a
freelance business, you need to be able to promote yourself and attract paying clients.
Here are the basics of crafting an effective pitch for prospective clients:
- Make a strong first impression with an email that showcases the quality of your work.
- Be confident
- Answer any questions that come up.
- Use samples of your work and past projects to demonstrate your experience.
- Use an appealing visual layout.
.
10. Don’t confuse your day-to-day work priorities with your freelance work
Above all, it’s important to remember that your day job (and your only reliable source of income) is
Your top priority.
And don’t do anything that puts your primary job at risk, because you still need it to support you while you grow your
freelance business on the side. There are plenty of things to avoid, including:
- Breaching any contracts or agreements you’ve signed with your employer.
- Working on your freelance business during company time (never do this).
- Using company resources, computers, or paid blogging tools as part of
Your independent projects.
And now that you understand how to get started freelancing, here’s why I believe everyone
(especially millennials) should work independently. It’s been one of the best career decisions I’ve ever made,
and by far my most consistent side gig to date.
I strongly recommend that anyone considering starting a freelance business or transitioning into consulting
start freelancing while still working full time.
