Few people are friends or relatives of the world’s 2,325 billionaires. Here are seven facts that shed some light on
members of the billionaires’ club, based on a report by a Singaporean organization and a Swiss bank, according to Al Riyadh. They are:
.
* Education level:
Not having a university degree is no barrier to joining the billionaires’ club: more than a third of its members do not hold a university degree.
.
* Place of study:
Those aspiring to build substantial wealth could be advised to attend an Ivy League university, or the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, or Yale in the United States, as most
billionaires studied at these universities.
.
* Where the wealthy live:
The European principality of Liechtenstein has the highest proportion of billionaires relative to its population, with five billionaires and a population of no more than
37,000 residents. New York has 103 billionaires, making it the city with the highest number of billionaires.
.
* Emerging billionaire hotspots:
Most cities around the world with 20 or more billionaires are not in Western Europe or North America, but in emerging economies in other regions.
These cities include Mexico City in Mexico, São Paulo in Brazil, Istanbul in Turkey, Riyadh, Mumbai in India, and Shenzhen in China.
.
* نساء ثريات:
Joining the self-made billionaire club remains more difficult for women than for men. Women own just 12 percent of the wealth held by billionaires worldwide,
and in 65 percent of cases, women inherited their wealth. By contrast, 60 percent of male billionaires made their fortunes themselves.
.
* حدود الثروة:
Only a small number of wealthy people exceed the $10 billion mark, while 85 percent of billionaires have fortunes ranging from $1 billion to $10 billion.
