Since the coronavirus pandemic left millions of people unemployed, finding a job can be extremely difficult, <\/span><\/p>\n

despite the job market steadily improving since the virus first brought life around the world to a halt in March.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you're trying to find a job or reposition yourself elsewhere this year, here's what <\/span><\/p>\n

companies are looking for in 2021, according to some findings from a Zety study, cited by The Leaders website.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who will get hired in 2021?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

According to the study, 83% of hiring managers said they consider first impressions a decisive factor in hiring decisions. The study <\/span><\/p>\n

surveyed more than 200 recruiters.<\/span><\/p>\n

If first impressions are an important indicator of how the rest of the hiring process will go, it\u2019s worth considering the study\u2019s \u201clikability factor,\u201d which <\/span><\/p>\n

essentially means showing confidence and trustworthiness at the start of the interview to put yourself in the best position.<\/span><\/p>\n

But beyond first impressions, there\u2019s still work to do. Here\u2019s what employers want to see in candidates. <\/span><\/p>\n

Loyalty and integrity:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re wondering which candidate qualities matter most to employers, loyalty and integrity top the list, <\/span><\/p>\n

More than half of recruiters and hiring managers said loyalty was the most important trait in a candidate, followed by integrity <\/span><\/p>\n

at 49% and dedication at 48%. Meanwhile, 41% of respondents said adaptability was also important, while kindness <\/span><\/p>\n

and patience were the next most commonly cited traits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Respondents were less keen to seek out open-mindedness or tolerance; these were the least sought-after traits when hiring <\/span><\/p>\n

Hiring managers look for different qualities depending on the seniority of the role. For senior or management positions, <\/span><\/p>\n

more than half of recruiters said their main goal was to hire someone who was results-driven, as well as hardworking.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is likely because these roles tend to be filled by people who will need to manage others and set an<\/span><\/p>\n

example for those around them. According to the survey, having a proven track record and being a team player were also popular qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for an entry-level job, hiring managers said being a quick learner was the top quality at \u201c52%.\u201d Meanwhile, <\/span><\/p>\n

being hardworking, a self-starter, self-motivated, and a team player were also considered good qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n

For entry-level jobs, 74% of hiring managers said they want to see a candidate who is detail-oriented and hardworking. The <\/span><\/p>\n

focus on detail is likely linked to finding someone who can do the job and follow the script, which differs in <\/span><\/p>\n

Importance compared with junior roles (38%) and senior roles (33%).<\/span><\/p>\n
