Like any other challenging task, planning comes with many obstacles. But, as we\u2019ll see, these obstacles can seem convincing and logical, <\/span><\/p>\n and that\u2019s where the danger lies.<\/span><\/p>\n To convince people of the value of planning, we must first refute the arguments and broad claims made against planning and its benefits. That is what we will try to do. <\/span><\/p>\n as discussed in the following article.<\/span><\/p>\n .<\/p>\n Of course, there are plenty of arguments raised against anyone who wants to plan for themselves personally or plan their work. Some of the most prominent include: <\/span><\/p>\n The arguments: The future is unclear and uncertain, so how can we plan for something we know nothing about?!<\/span><\/p>\n This argument may seem logical, but it contains the seeds of its own destruction. If the future is uncertain and may hold many surprises that could <\/span><\/p>\n That may not be reassuring, but we must prepare ourselves for whatever may come.<\/span><\/p>\n Planning is, after all, about preparing for the worst. If we were planning only to seize opportunities, the process wouldn\u2019t be nearly as important.<\/span><\/p>\n This is not the only weak argument made against planning. Some say it takes too much time, and that there are other things people should <\/span><\/p>\n devote their time and effort to.<\/span><\/p>\n Let\u2019s consider that claim for a moment: does the fact that a task is difficult make it any less worthwhile? Quite the opposite\u2014the more challenging it is, the more reason there is <\/span><\/p>\n to examine it closely and explore the significance it may hold.<\/span><\/p>\n So what tasks could be more important than planning? Isn\u2019t planning itself a task? There may indeed be important tasks that are just as important as <\/span><\/p>\n the planning process, but how can we carry them out without planning for them in advance?<\/span><\/p>\n In any case, there are many arguments that can be raised against planning and its value. We simply wanted to give a few examples and refute them, to show <\/span><\/p>\n that all these arguments are flimsy and can easily be answered, bringing their proponents\u2019 arguments down at the foundations.<\/span><\/p>\n .<\/p>\n Writer and author James Sherman draws our attention to another major obstacle to planning: stubbornness. Someone may be <\/span><\/p>\n convinced of the value of planning, yet still insist on rejecting the opinion of the person who persuaded them of its value\u2014simply to avoid appearing submissive or compliant <\/span><\/p>\n \u0644\u0631\u0623\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0622\u062e\u0631\u064a\u0646.<\/span><\/p>\n Another issue is the desire to appear independent. People may undermine others\u2019 plans and strategies to seem independent and avoid <\/span><\/p>\n being held responsible for anything. One purpose of planning is to set goals and then assign tasks to team members.<\/span><\/p>\n .<\/p>\n Some people are extremely optimistic and believe that the future will be nothing but bright. When they hear bad news, they <\/span><\/p>\n unconsciously dismiss it.<\/span><\/p>\n Their optimism leads them to become completely absorbed in the present and to believe wholeheartedly that the future holds only good things. This way of thinking <\/span><\/p>\n leads them to see no value or importance in planning.<\/span><\/p>\n In fact, this optimism is nothing but deadly poison. At its core, it is not optimism at all, but sheer foolishness and naivety. There\u2019s nothing wrong with being optimistic <\/span><\/p>\n about the future, but that doesn\u2019t mean you shouldn\u2019t also prepare yourself for the worst-case scenarios.<\/span><\/p>\n .<\/p>\n Closely related to the previous point is a lack of awareness. Those who are unaware are always failing. People who don\u2019t understand what is happening around them, and cannot<\/span><\/p>\n connect the dots or make sense of events, are bound to fail spectacularly.<\/span><\/p>\n A lack of awareness can mean many things, including, of course, failing to recognize the value of planning. It means that an unaware person doesn\u2019t know their weaknesses or strengths, or <\/span><\/p>\n where they want to go\u2014and even if they do, they won\u2019t know how to get there.<\/span><\/p>\n .<\/p>\n What we have presented here are not all the obstacles to planning.
