Indra Nooyi is an Indian-born American businesswoman and executive. She currently serves as the CEO of PepsiCo and is considered one of the most powerful women <\/span><\/p>\n

and most prominent women in business over the past 30 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indra Nooyi was born on October 28, 1955, in Madras, India, into a conservative middle-class family. Her father worked <\/span><\/p>\n

as a bank employee, and she attended Anglo Indian Preparatory School. Although she was mischievous and unruly early in life, she went on to earn a place at <\/span><\/p>\n

Madras Christian College, graduating in 1974 after studying mathematics, physics, and chemistry. She then earned a diploma in management from the institution<\/span><\/p>\n

After that, Indra joined Boston Consulting Group as the company\u2019s director of international projects, a role she held for six years before moving on to <\/span><\/p>\n

Motorola, where she quickly climbed the ranks and was appointed director of strategic projects and planning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indra proved her abilities and exceptional capabilities. In the 1990s, companies competed to recruit her, and in 1994 she joined <\/span><\/p>\n

global company PepsiCo as vice president of corporate development and long-range planning, working closely with the CEO to shape the company\u2019s long-term plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1997, Indra played a major role in spinning off the Pizza Hut and KFC restaurant chains, which were owned by PepsiCo. This led to the creation of the <\/span><\/p>\n

Yum! restaurant chain, now one of the largest in the world. Indra also advanced the company\u2019s health-focused strategy by acquiring two companies <\/span><\/p>\n

Tropicana for natural juice and Quaker Oats for healthy food, both of which generated substantial profits for the company.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recognition of her work, Indra Nooyi was appointed the company\u2019s CFO in 2000 and president in 2001. When CEO Steve <\/span><\/p>\n

Reinemund retired in 2006, Indra was chosen to succeed him, becoming the fifth CEO in PepsiCo\u2019s history.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indra Nooyi\u2019s net worth is estimated at around $145 million. Fortune ranked her No. 1 among women in business for five consecutive years, and <\/span><\/p>\n
