Not having a university degree is no barrier to joining the billionaires\u2019 club: more than a third of its members do not hold a university degree.<\/span><\/p>\n

Those aspiring to build substantial wealth could be advised to attend an Ivy League university, or the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, or Yale in the United States, as most<\/span><\/p>\n

billionaires studied at these universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Where the wealthy live:<\/span><\/h2>\n

The European principality of Liechtenstein has the highest proportion of billionaires relative to its population, with five billionaires and a population of no more than<\/span><\/p>\n

37,000 residents. New York has 103 billionaires, making it the city with the highest number of billionaires.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Emerging billionaire hotspots:<\/span><\/h2>\n

Most cities around the world with 20 or more billionaires are not in Western Europe or North America, but in emerging economies in other regions. <\/span><\/p>\n

These cities include Mexico City in Mexico, S\u00e3o Paulo in Brazil, Istanbul in Turkey, Riyadh, Mumbai in India, and Shenzhen in China.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joining the self-made billionaire club remains more difficult for women than for men. Women own just 12 percent of the wealth held by billionaires worldwide, <\/span><\/p>\n
