In her May 20 speech at Selma University in Atlanta, the highly successful Oprah Winfrey, who runs her own television network, spoke about a number of things,

including the importance of knowing yourself and the value of your future contributions. She said she held on to her identity as a talk-show host, businesswoman, and entrepreneur,

only to realize that this identity was more than her job.

Although Winfrey’s success story is somewhat unusual, the things that drove her success can inspire many رواد الأعمال المحتملين

Absolutely. Here are three tips from Winfrey on how to succeed in life—and in business:

.

معرفة نفسك

You need to be able to answer these questions: Who am I? What do I want? I don’t just want to be successful. I don’t just want to make a difference or leave a legacy.

My answer is that I want to realize the highest and truest meaning of my existence as a human being. You need to have some kind of vision for your life. Even if you don’t have a

plan, you need to know the direction you want to go. Do you have a plan, or are you just going along? You have to take the driver’s seat in

Your own life—or life will simply lead you.

.

Find a way to serve.

Martin Luther King said that not everyone can be famous, but everyone can be great because greatness comes from service. The striking truth is

that greatness comes from service and significance. If you look at the most successful people in the world—whether they know it or not—they all follow this model of

service. I decided I wouldn’t just appear on television. Instead, I would create a platform for philanthropy. By using television as a way to serve, I

transformed my career significantly. You can do the same by using whatever you create as a way to give a great deal to the world. When you embrace a service model

and treat it as significant, success will follow you wherever you go.

.

Always do the right thing.

Always stand out. Notice people. When you go to Taco Bell and someone gives you a few extra napkins and sauce. That’s right—even at a

Taco Bell, you’ll notice excellence. Everyone talks about building brands; I didn’t even know what that meant. What I realize now is that my choice was to do

the right thing. Excellence is what builds a brand. When you stand out, you’re impossible to forget. None of us wants to be

forgotten—we all want to be unforgettable. And that comes from doing the right thing, even when no one knows you’re doing it.
