Your emotional stability shapes your personality, but it takes considerable inner perseverance to learn how to cope with
the upsetting changes around you.
A person who acts on their emotions without careful thought is considered unbalanced. As a result, they do not believe in planning and are often
frustrated by new developments around them because they do not meet their expectations.
In this context, Dr. Iman Abdullah, a psychologist, explained that an emotion can be defined as a disturbed feeling
or a psychological disorder affecting a person and their experiences, saying, “In psychology, we say that we must change our emotions in order to change
that affects behavior. These emotions can arise for many reasons, including social, psychological, or environmental factors, so it is important to be extremely mindful
of their negative effects on a person’s mental and physical health.”
Dr. Iman said, “The problem with emotions is that they can affect a person by 70 to 80%, and they may
develop various chronic illnesses because of the negative impact of their emotions,” explaining that a person’s emotions may cause them to develop
high or low blood pressure, heart muscle strain, or vision loss as a result of severe pressure on the blood vessels
found in the eye.
To manage your emotional stability effectively, Dr. Iman emphasized that everyone has abilities that should be directed in a balanced way,
saying, “It is important to restrain anger, as the Holy Quran teaches. It emphasizes the importance of compassion and affection, and of avoiding despair in
the mercy of God Almighty, as well as hatred, resentment, and other negative emotions.”
She added, “A person can turn to writing or reading, or exercise. They can also count backward
from 1 to 10—or to 100 if necessary—and should remember that hearts find peace through the remembrance of God Almighty.”
The psychology professor concluded her remarks by emphasizing the importance of meditation, which can boost happiness hormones and help
regulate breathing—a practice that helps people make sound decisions and respond more effectively to external stimuli.
